Kansas ANG activates UPAD to support Nebraska

The 184th Intelligence Wing, Kansas Air National Guard, activates seven Airmen to provide stateside emergency assistance to Nebraska, March 23, in response to floods caused by a “bomb cyclone” that swept through the Midwest. The Unclassified Processing Analysis and Dissemination team assigned to the 184th IW provided timely, informative products to incident commanders so they could make well-informed, life-saving decisions. MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE—The 184th Intelligence Wing, Kansas Air National Guard, activated seven Airmen to provide stateside emergency assistance to Nebraska for flooding response, March 23.

The recent “bomb cyclone” that swept through the Midwest caused more than $1 billion of flood damage to Nebraska’s Missouri River Basin and three-fourths of its 93 counties; prompting Gov. Pete Ricketts to initiate emergency actions. Continue reading

Local residents, representatives and fans of history gathered at the Veteran’s Administration on Oct. 6 to honor a fallen Wichita native, WWI aviator, and Medal of Honor recipient, 2nd Lt. Erwin Bleckley, 100 years after he died in combat. The celebration, coined Bleckley Day, was hosted by the VA and coordinated by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 112. Continue reading

Kansas Air National Guardsmen assigned to the 184th Intelligence Wing at McConnell Air Force Base are helping fight fires in Northern California; one of the biggest and deadliest wildfires in the state’s history.

“California can normally handle the wildfires that happen out there,” said 1st Lt. Brandon Devader, officer in charge, 184th IAA, “but with this one, they’re overwhelmed because it’s one of the largest they’ve ever seen.”
